Why do we people mostly feel that we either have too much or too
little and never enough? This attitude keeps our civilisation going
and is sometimes even healthy but one cannot help but wonder, why can't
it be just right at some point. Life would be a flat line were that to
be the case and would probably lose its charm and motivation. The full
moon ,however, is a whole different story and is somewhat more in tune
with our wishful thinking. It simply turns full and period and never
fails to spark a moment of true romanticisicm

The
full moon will be on Friday and will be quite special this time,
because it is the second within the calendar month. This full moon is
called »blue moon«.
Who does not know the
situation having difficulties to make a decision? Admittedly, neuro
scientists have assessed that the brain makes its choice within
milliseconds and then sends a kind of recommendation to the
consciousness, nevertheless, most of us question everything again and
worry to make a mistake. Sometimes you ask yourself how helpful thoughts
really are? A few years ago, when we had to decide on one or the other
ice cream flavour in an ice-cream parlour, we found our daughter to
solve this problem quite elegantly by saying: »I'll have both!« …
Children are somewhat more advanced in these things

Why
are we actually idolising the Sun? And why does its absence make us
feel dejected? The time of the sun cult is essentially history – meaning
a form of religion or honouring, like for example the ancient Greeks
practised this with their sun god Helios. Nevertheless, a big part still
remains today: Sun is life. This is a difficult fact to withdraw from.
And even from the Moon, nothing other glares at us, than the reflection of sunlight. Try it yourself: sunbathing in the full moon light!

Holiday
season … easy to recognise that the word "holidays" derives from "holy
days". It originates from the Old English word hāligdæg and referred to
special religious days in old times. Today, in modern use, the work-free
days are only rarely marked by religious motifs, albeit they still
represent something special. To what extent they are truly special,
mostly depends on the inner attitude and how exceptional you create your
life.
The Moon does certainly not have holidays – although its light has a divine appearance for us at times.

The full moon
of Sunday will be a "supermoon". Bigger, brighter, closer, better. Drop
everything and forget time and space, to
experience this astronomic sensation…
No, the truth is that the Moon is slightly bigger and a little bit brighter. But that doesn't sound as good as "super". We humans are obviously only susceptible for the magnificent, for the superlatives, for the sensational and the onetime opportunity, which has definitely to be grasped. Maybe because our life is usually the opposite.

A
short thought on the subject of "forgetting". Normally, it is looked at
as being negative – you suppress, you lose, you miss … At the same
time, there has to be something salutary in it, to forget and therefore
gain a distance to your own past. However, at the same time, it is
important to take responsibility for one's past, which only works if it
remains in the consciousness. How can this be reconciled? A different word was suggested to me once: "I unlearn my past." This contains a different quality. Knowing what was, without being shackled to it. Being able to
think about past events without agitation nor illusion, only knowledge. This is what inner freedom would feel like.

I read a family letter from the post-war era, in which a grandmother writes, full
of gratitude, that her family now owns a second pair of scissors. There
were times when this was something really special. We are already used
to having everything double and triple and we do not notice anymore how
quickly things come and go in and out of our lives. However, it is often
the things we only possess once that are truly meaningful to us. The
thought of this contains something quite soothing. Good thing that there
is only one Moon here on Earth ... a second moon wouldn't be so bad, though

The full moon
will be on Tuesday and I reminisce the harbour of a deep desire. Not something that could be
purchased – something, you believe would bring fulfillment and order
into your own life. Often, these kind of wishes do not turn into reality
for a long time and you can ask yourself why it is like this. It must
have something to do with the situation of non-fulfillment, with which probably every human can identify themselves with. Otherwise we would not encounter it in the variety of forms that we do. It is probably the fact being occupied with the
situation itself that defines us and gives meaning to our lives. When we
learn not to form our lives in the future, but in the moment of
wishing, the fulfillment will then be part of the present. Your own happiness should never be dependent on the outside.

Full moon coming on Monday with the New Year being just
a few days old and you are already surrounded by resolutions and hoping
that everything will be different, better and nicer, and that problems and unpleasantries may disappear. This probably rarely works
because changes cannot be planned by the calendar but need to be
developed from the inside and mature at a certain point in time to
become reality. This is also closely connected with faith and trust. So
let's forget about the good intentions and start acting... "Deeds are better than
words!".

Yet another full moon
on Saturday. The American
author Robert M. Pirsig once stated that people are first and foremost
interested in the question "What's new?" and because of this, only
remain on the surface of their being. Instead, Pirsig suggests to
address the question "What's best?", as this will lead to profound
depth. So, how about a little walk in the full moon light and ponder a little, without brooding over anything new? The perfect opposite pole in these turbulent times...

As
a Zen master once put it: if one lives through a difficult crisis
or experience and has to work through a great stroke of fate, this might
save oneself 30 years of meditation. Although, this sentence is surely
also meant to be humorous, it still contains a core of truth.
Encountering ourselves deeply inside and meeting the profound insight
into our being and life that can develop from a crisis, is of
inestimable value. Maybe this thought can help everyone who is currently
experiencing severe difficulties in their lives

Monday the 12th of September and the oncoming autumn blows the
first leaves off the trees, the time of harvesting and gathering begins.
Nowadays, this has obviously a different significance than in the old
days. Still, we are gathering experiences, impressions, information or
memories. From
time to time, however, it does feel good to let go of a few, sharing them with someone or simply forget. An inspirational phrase once read quotes: "Don't build nests in the past."

Full moon is on Saturday the 13th August. If we are lucky,
the weather holds up and will give us an opportunity for a walk in the full moon
light! The word "romantic" appears to have almost fallen out of
fashion, although it describes so appropriately the longing of many
people. In a positive sense it is about the emphasis on feelings. And
this is no doubt, valuable in this world, which mostly moves from one
thought to another. Make space for your feelings, share them with
others and sprinkle a touch of romance over the time spent together. Full moon light can really work wonders here.

Full moon
is on Wednesday the 15th and a total lunar eclipse occurring simultaneously. In the early days,
this used to be a greatly feared event, because the darkening of
light was interpreted as the end of the world. We may smile about it this
today, but if we look at the hysteria around the year of 2012 and the
misinterpretations of the Maya calendars (or the movies from Hollywood
about the apocalypse) not much appears to have changed. Fear is a
lucrative business. Let's reflect instead, on our responsibility that we
carry for our wonderful Earth and let us use the force of love in our
hearts for creating a future that is worth living for.
